MSD - 6C vintage box

So at the Portland swap meet this weekend I picked up an old vintage MSD box with the MSD logo cast into the box like the anniversary 6AL boxes that they sold a few years back. This is an MSD - 6C box...C being for Chrysler! On the right side of the box is the male connector for a Chrysler 5 pin ignition box mounted right in the box. On the other end are separate power and ground wires. It seems that you could keep the factory wiring, hook up the power and ground cables and plug the thing in in place of the Mopar box. 40 years of fooling with Mopar cars, I have never seen such a thing.

Does anybody have any info on this?, ever used one or seen it used?

I seen one locally, it was really pricey though but it plugged into factory mopar ignition

pricey...i paid 69 bucks for it back in 78 brand new at local speed shop

there was one on here a while back for $50. sold in a week or two. looks neat. wonder how it performs. probably the same as a Chrysler box just no more ballast

That's good to know, I picked one up for 5 bucks not that long ago. I might have to try it out.

Those were CONSIDERABLY better in their day, than a Mopar ECU I used to run one in the old FJ-40 Landcruiser. If I'd known, then, about running HEI I'd have done so. Actually I tried to run HEI, but as it turns out, I probably got the pickup reversed, and did not know about phasing. This was long before Al invented the internet.

surprising that they don't sell for more then but I guess it'd be considered an outdated unit now and everyone wants the top of the line/current tech

I bought a brand new MSD 5C in the early 80's for a dodge ram I was driving. The parts store said both 5C and 6C were available.
