I am looking at a MSD pro billet distributor #8534 for my 70 340 Duster. What is involved with adjusting the mechanical advance? Also I have a Rev-N-nator ignition box, would that work instead of the MSD box that says is required? Right now I have a mp electronic dizzy, but it seems to have about 20-22 mechanical advance and I don't feel good about trying to weld up the slots to limit that.

Thanks

The answers to your questions should be right on the MSD site.

They show installation using just the MSD ignition boxes. I was just wondering if that was just marketing, or if it was possible to use another ignition box without damaging either the distributor or the ignition box. You were right, I did find the answer about adjusting the advance.
Thanks.

Well I must admit this is counter---intuitive

The 8534 distributor specs and destructions clearly state that this distributor MUST be used with an MSD box, but..................

Reading the MSD6A, AL, etc, destructions, clearly show a magnetic pickup (Mopar) distributor hooked TO THE SAME green and violet pickup wires as when using the 8534 distributor.

So I donoooooo...............

It will work with a mopar ignition box.

Wonder if this is "I hope they don't notice" on the part of MSD, they never have checked it out, or maybe the MSD dis. doesn't put out quite as much joltage as a Mopar
