I was wondering if anyone has installed 255/60-15 MT drag radials on the back of a 68 Dart? What offset wheels did you use? I know 235's will fit but I would like to go bigger? Thanks Jeff

Jeff - I just put 255/60/15 BFG radials on the back of my '67. It's fairly tight and 255/60 MT Drag's are a little bigger (wider). Short answer...yes. Try to find a wheel with 4.5" of backspacing. Mine are 5" and I had to use a 5/16" spacer to clear my leaf spring clamps, but I had a good 1/2" fender lip clearance. With the MT Drag's, you shoud be good with a 4.5" backspacing wheel, and maybe a little fender rolling/trimming.

You'll also learn if your axle is centered! Mine is not 100%. My 255's barely made contact with my driver side leafspring clamp, but made definate contact on the pass. side clamp...maybe 1/8" difference, but it shows when your trying to squeeze tires in!

Also, every car is a little different. Everyone seems to have different experiences from what I've learned here! You may get lucky and toss them on with no interference! Or you may have to trim/roll your lips...

Finally and I'll shut up....dont settle for 235's! Make 255's fit, you'll be glad you did...and post some pics and your experiences when yer done!!

Like beatnik said 255's will fit with the right backspacing on the rims but you should check, Just to make sure. I have 235's, for now and rolled the rear lips now I have all kinds of room and am going to get me some 255's. I think you can get off set hangers too. That gives you a little more room as the leaf spring is no longer the limiting facter. Then you run into the inner fender. The only way to go wider than that is with a spring relo kit and some wheel tubs.

Hope that healps you out some.

What width rims are you all running with MT drag radial 255s? I was thinking about 15x8 rims for my 67 Dart that I'm getting a B body 8.75 and doing a spring offset kit for. Surely someone has done the exact same thing I'm thinking about. I'm trying to pick out rims I like, but without knowing the backspacing I'm pretty limited. I think I'm going to need quite a bit, like 5.5+, but they don't seem to make many that big that I like.
