i will eventually have a 360/904 combo in my 70 dart. not sure yet if i will have manifolds but im aiming for 280hp and 20mpg so who knows. anyway i was looking for a decent turbo muffler suggestion (brand or specific part) and what size pipe i should go with. i dont necesarrily want it super loud, i want it to be heard and have a healthy rumble and just sound muscular

ive heard good of cherry bomb, flowmaster, and magnaflow but i have no idea what would be best for me

I don't like any of them, though the Cherry Bomb "Muffler" I have not yet heard, but the Cherry Bomb glass pack is a sound I hate.

If you want a rumble, look at Dyno Max mufflers. I have also used simple thrush muflers, the turbo styled units. They quite down on Cruise, sound meaty on accelerqation Summit racing has a set surplied with there kits slightly quiter than the Trush's. They were on my Duster.

280 HP and 20 mpg's? Keep that cam small! and that rear ratio high!

Oh, I got 17 MPG all day on this 318, a low comp. 1979 smog engine with a small Crane cam, headers, LD4B and a 600 cfm carb. The rear ratio was a 3.21 and stock sized tires.

i have 3" dynomax super turbo mufflers and love them.. you can probably get away with 2 1/4 or 2 1/2" mufflers. offset in center out is what mopars came with.

thats a pretty good soundin plymouth you got! ill try an get a sound bite of my uncles charger. its a 73 w/ a 400 4brrl auto an completly stock exhaust but it sounds awesome. quiet cruisin (inside the car anyway....sets off weak alarms) but when its idlin an when you punch it, you definatly hear it!

Had a set of Flomaster 40 series on my Duster. Awesome sound. Magna Flow's sound a little too glass-packy to me.

This Dart sounds exactly like my Duster:

Video doesn't specify whether or not they are 40 series. However, any flowmaster you get will have the same kind of sound, some louder than others.

I have always loved the sound of the dynomax hemiturbo muffler. It's the one all the Chevelle guys put on thier chevies so it will sound like a mopar, lol!!

I recently heard some magnaflows on a STOCK 01 Mustang GT. They had a nice mellow sound at idle but throaty when you hit it. very low key compared to 40's.

Has anyone tried the Flowmaster super 44's? From what I've heard they sound like super 40's without the tinny sound at idle which I'm not a big fan of. From the websites it sounds like the DynoMax and Thrush units sound pretty good! I wish it were easier to pick a good one and know how it would sound but cameras rarely do it justice. Maybe I'll check it out on the power tour this summer. Right now I just have resonators! (record was 4 car alarms in one parking deck floor :D) Good luck with your search!

I wouldnt reccomend these on a daily driver, but IMO the Flowmasters have the best muscle car sound period.
I run the Original 40 Series Flowmasters. To me,the best bang for the buck.

Are they loud, yes.Do they droan at a certain rpm, yes. Can you hear them coming, yes. Are they annoying as h*ll,yes.Do they set off car alarms, yes.Do my neighbors hate me,yes. Can you wear a skirt with them,No !!!!!

Just some of the reasons I like the org 40's. I built my car to act and sound like a muscle car,not like a daily commuter.

ya i need my car to act like a commuter...it commutes lol. its just a cool commuter

either way i just want it to sound like a good ol 60-70's American Muscle. it just so happens that i want it to sound and look like that, but perform more efficiently. doesnt sound like too difficult a task as much as it is reaseach for how i can gain mpg an still stick to mopar flat out coolness.

ive said in another thread of mine that i dont really expect to get awesome mpg outa this car, and i knew that when i bought it. but im gonna try an get the best i can, while still making it a fun cruiser. thats all im building it for is to be a cool driver that will be driven everyday:-D
