Wow! It really is tough to make a statement like that because this board has been the biggest help in the rebuilding of my 66 Barracuda. Most people are friendly and helpful or “got your back” when another sees you wrong or gives you a bunch of .

But out of all the sunshine, out of all the pretty roses and fantastic things about being a member (gold member too and I highly recommend you stepping up to the plate and going gold.)

My issue is when you post you are looking for something- a part, info, or code / deal. The very next poster to the thread says- “let me check.... I think I have it.”
And because of this you give them a “thanks” or a “like.” This benefits them but then they never follow through. Mean while your post goes dead because others think your being helped and don’t offer to “check if they have one.” Weeks go by and not even PM to that person will raise a response.

So I ask- if you cannot help and FOLLOW THROUGH please do not get a posters hope up. This also stops a person who can help from actually helping.
Off soap box.
Joe

Letting a part wanted post go dead is on you not the responders. You own it. Be proactive. Bump your thread. Continue to PM members that have made a post/contacted you to follow up on status.

I offered to look for some parts for people looking. I haven't been able to find them yet. LIFE gets in the way AND Mother Nature.

I have been there as well. I try to look back and respond with a "can't find them but will still keep looking".

Looking for anything in particular Joe?

Not really on me. But I see your point. I typically don’t “bump” a post but I guess I can.

Yes but if I say what it is then I out the person who said they would look.
I’m not into shaming a person for I understand life happened. I just wanted to give guidance to people who post they can help but do not follow thru. That’s all.

That would definitely help Joe. Will let members know you are still searching for an item.

Typically, if I tell someone I might have what they are looking for I will get back to them in a day or two. A lot of my excess parts are stored away from the house to keep peace with my better half (what she can't see, won't hurt me). Sometimes, I know I have the part, but forgot exactly where I put it (CRS), I'm getting old & memory is not what it used to be. I try my best but fall short from time to time.

Posts like 'got it' or 'have it' etc. should not get a like - until they actually follow through.

Put up or shut up IMO.

I’m not a fan of the Insta-I-Got-It posts and PMs.

That being said, follow through is up to the OP.

I think most of us are very respectful when we say we have something.

No offense meant, but in a lot of cases I forget offers I might make. I have a box of stuff for RRR still in my garage from years ago (tools not car parts) that I remind myself about whenever I see it. If someone offers, I'd suggest you follow up. The one that needs it should feel ok reminding if the one offering has CRS...lol
