my blown 440 idle issue.

just cant seen to get it to idle...when it starts it revs up a little then comes down the idle has to be set high to keep it running, running two comp series carbs....
 
When I had the same problem running Holley's I was able to track it down to the 4 corner idle screws being off. I had to start from scratch and then turn them 1/16 of a turn each until I got it right. It was a real pain. Not sure this is your problem though.

Well I guess you would have said so if your eyes were burning from an over rich condition because of the wrong size of power valves. Or they were all blocked off and re-jetted.. The other classic symptom of no idle requires opening the secondary's by means of the screw accessible from under the throttle plate. A quick test is to slip a piece of shim stock between the secondary throttle arm and the screw, then fire it up to test if this helps..
