nearly stalls every time he stops at a light. It is a '74 I believe with the slant six & single barrel carb. The carb is a reman & seems to be operating correctly. When just sitting, the engine idles fine so I don't believe the cure will be just to raise the idle speed. I am wondering if somehow the power brakes are "sucking up" all the vacum & somehow causing this problem. I am also suspicious that the float level could be a bit too high, but haven't checked as those carbs are a pain to dissasemble & reassemble.

Any ideas?

Check the carb. Does it stall when coming to a stop, or just sitting with the brake applied? If it's as you are coming to a stop, check float level, and make sure the carb mixture isnt too lean.

I agree on that, and if it dies as he sits at a light holding the brake..it could be a leaky brake booster making a huge vacuum leak.
