I just purchased a 68 Dart 270. I have a 400 plus hp 360 magnum that I am going to put in it. It came with a suregrip 8.75 not sure what ratio it has yet. Need to pull third member to see. I also plan to put a 727 behind the 360. She has the typical rust on the floors and lower quarters and some in the trunk but pretty solid for the most part.

Have you found the correct fender tag in the car anywhere? Post some engine and interior photos.

You would need a lot of documentation to prove the options
 
Photograph as much of the details of the removal of parts. Many times you can see that a part was always on the car. Like if a seat nut has the OEM undercoat or OEM paint on it, most likely it is original to the car.

If push comes to shove you could make your own fender tag. You can get reverse letter punches on ebay.

Disclaimer... I am not suggesting you make a fender tag to make your car more valuable by faking desirable options. If it started life as a \6 it should have the fender tag for a \6 even if you swapped in a V8.

I appreciate the info. Mine started its life as a 318 car with a/c.

No you don't. Just turn the driveshaft one revolution (If posi)and count how many turns driveshaft turns (3 1/2 turns = 355 gear. ) Open rear end just jack 1 tire off the ground and do 2 turns off the tire and count revolutions on DS.

Just checked diff this morning. Looks like she has 4.10 gears. Dang it man!! I was hoping for 3.55,3.73 or at worst 3.91 gears. Oh well at least it’s a suregrip. Now to find a nice ring and pinion.
