I know I am gonna get slaughtered for asking this, but has anyone ever narrowed a 7 1/4 axle before. I know the answer already, swap it out to and 8 1/4 or 8 3/4. I have done this before and it is easy, but i want to keep my small bolt pattern Crager SSTs on my 66 dart and the rears are just a smidge to wide to fit inside the wheel well without rubbing on the outside. Right now i have the rear end way up in the air and i hate it. If i could take 1 1/4 off of both sides i would be good to go. Does anybody knnow, can the splines on the axle shafts be cut back further on the shafts, or is there a step that will no allow that. Any positive feedback would be appreciated.
