[WANTED] Need 340 main caps

I have a 340 blocks that needs the 3 center caps. I know they make new ones but the cheapest I can find are $273.00. Anybody know of a lower priced set. I will still have the align bore cost on top of the cap price. i have tried used 340 and 318 caps but they are not aligning up right for whatever reason. I would even consider another block with caps, if the price is right. I'm using a .040 oversize piston so a block that needs bored is not a problem.

i have a standard bore 69 cast date 340 that will surely need bored...i think it has main caps...

You should be able to install any 318 to 340 main cap as long as you have your machines line bore it before you use it.

You would think so but that's not how it works. Different blocks have different locations for the caps that put them sideways as much as 1/16 in. You can weld them up and recut them to move them over but I don't want to do that. :banghead:

You could take the main caps and sell the block for $250!!

Thanks for the link. It's odd because when I called Pro-Gram they said they were out of stock on the two bolt SBM caps. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Update: None available until mid April
