Had a melt down of my Duster, CAn anyone turn me on to a 74 Duster under hood harness. I need the bulkhead connector that the fuseable line connects to on the red wire.

I have a 75 dart with /6. Will that underhood harness do you any good?

I believe the main underhood harnesses are the same after 73 and the only difference beetween the 6 cyl and V-8 wiring is a detachable engine harness which is at the end of the motor at the firewall. This is away from the main bulkhead connector and seperate from the rest of the wiring so a main harness from either engine should work and you'll plug your engine harness into it.

If you look in the catalogs, they only list them through '74 so there must be some differences. Probably wiring for emission systems that changed that year. If the other guys strike out, let me know and I'll go through my stock.

Mine burned up a while back. I see them on ebay occasionally, but if in a pinch, Evans Wiring Harness sells them for @$75 which is where I got mine. They also sell the 3 plastic connectors that slide into the bulkhead for @15 ea. I bought extras myself b/c you never know.

There is also an article on allpar regarding this issue. I have seen people drill a hole on the bulkhead connector in that specific cavity to connect those 2 specific terminals to prevent other meltdowns. Others bypass alltogether rendering the factory gauge inop.
