I could sure use help/advice converting my column shift A/T Demon to a floor console slapstick! I raelize I'll need to find a floor shift steering column but I'm not sure if it matters wheather it comes from an A/T or M/T? Also, will I need to modify any parts of the tranny hump to fit a factory console? Any advice on where to find a used or repro A/T floor console?
Thanks, Frank

Ok here's what you need. You will need the column, doesn't matter if its manual or auto they are the same. You do need to make sure you get one specifically for power steering or manual as they are different lengths, get whatever you are running. You will need the console brackets that weld to the floor, they make new ones or there is a member here but I don't know if he still makes them. You will need the shifter and all associated linkage to attach to the transmission. And of course the console itself. And put an ad out on the parts wanted section there are guy selling stuff for this conversion all the time.

If money is a issue you can convert your column to a floor shift column.
No need to alter the floor tunnel ( hump ) inless your going to manual trans.
The console brackets, shifter and components appear in for sale section here.

I have everything you need. PM me with your request on parts you need. Not only is the colunm shafts different lengths, they have different dia. splines. also the linkage is different for 904 verses 727. I have floor humps out with the bracets attached for reference. I also have them cleaned and ready to weld in. Steve

The input spline changes with steering gears not shifter location.

At one time I considered doing this on a 66 cuda I have. I didn't have a manual shift Abody to take a steering column from, but have several push button B bodies. The column housing appeared to be the same, and I believe the post from the abody would fit the housing if the splines were not the same. This would only work from 64 down, 65 has that wierd shifter mechanizem (sp?)
