Can some one give me some ideas. I am restoring a 74 Duster with a 318. The engine was built with a 2 barrel carb, but I have converted to a 4 barrel. I bought a Edelbrock Streetmaster 318 manifold on e-bay and it seemed to look ok. But! I have a problem with massive water leaks around the corners on the manifold were it attaches to the heads. I realize the gaskets are probably trash, but do any of you have history with this type of problem.

What gasket did you use and did you put any sealer around the water ports? The stock type steel shim gaskets are really only recommended for stock iron manifolds. Also do you know if the intake was ever milled for an engine with milled decks or heads?

The fel pro #1213 from summitracing would solve your problem the gaskets have a bead of seleant around the ports to help seal. Also make sure the intake and head are straight use a ruler or something to check if its flesh with the surface. Good luck

First don't use the cork end gaskets just use a bead of rtv, also check the end rails on the block and make sure there are no dowel pins (aligning pins sticking out that are not allowing your intake to sit flush)

I noticed those dowel pins on my 73 when i did the manifold swap out. They just need to be plucked out because the new manifold isn't drilled for them. Pair of pliers is all you need!!
