I am looking into putting a Hemi 265 engine possibly a slant six if this would not work into my 71 dart. Do I need special engine mounts for the 265 hemi? Where do I get them? The one they have at Pentastar makes 400hp!! thats insane Id love to drop that in my dart. BTW if anyone has any aluminum slant six blocks or hemi sixes I will def pay top dollar for one.
 
Good luck finding the 265 hemi 6 in the states...they never sold them here...so get ready to pay a mint to get one freighted in from Australia...I'd like to see it when it gets in. But pentastar will have the mounts you need...and you may have some exhaust issues, given that your car is LHD and the aussie ones are RHD
 
slantsix.org has a member here in the states (so Cal) who has these engines,parts,etc.... OZHEMI is his name, and he is ebay seller OZHEMII, also, seems like a good guy, check it out!
 
He had a 265 listed for sale over at .org and also had one on eBay not too long ago. Can't recall if it sold or not.
 
now the major problem is that that 265 hemi if i remember right) is that its like 6 inches longer or something thana real slant. I think you should get a hold of OZ (he owns a garage in cal) and ask away.
 
Oz hangs out on Moparts a lot too. We usually only see him on .org when he's trying to sell something.

The major problem with the 265 is that they never put them in any left hand drive cars. Lots of fabrication necessary to get one in a US car.

There are also 2 types of blocks. The regular 265 and the 304 horse have different bellhousing patterns I believe. One is the same as a small block Mopar and the other is Borg Warner only. Not sure which is which though.

If you're gonna hack in a "hemi" 6, why not go all the way and hack in a 300 Ford?

Oh yeah, the "hemi" 6 isn't a hemi either.
 
The use of the word 'hemi' has led to some intersting discussions. I was talking to a friend of mine a while back. He's not really a car-oriented guy, so I was surprised to hear him going on about getting a car with the new hemi. I asked him what prompted this new behavior. His response was "I keep seeing the commercial, and even though I have no idea what the hemi is, I have to have one"
 
You can get Hemi 265's on ebay.com.au for next to nothing.

You will need a new K-member possibly, new extractors/headers which you can do a search for online. I would go for a Romac e49 spec balancer if you are running non-power steering. Also check out www.chi.com.au for the 400hp cylinder heads. www.aussiespeed.com.au for the manifolds. They do run out of puff toward 4500-5000k.
You will also need all Aussie Hemi 6 starters and distributors but you can find this stuff online esp. at moparmarket.com.au and ebay.com.au
If you're really keen go for the 6 pack setup and fry the tyres.
