Looking for pictures of:

1) How the car jack is installed in the back, passenger side of a '75 Duster trunk..

2) and pictures of how the carpet should be installed. I bought "fitted" carpets that "might" need a bit of cutting. Heck, the car could be 8 inches wider and the carpet would still fit..and the cabin be 8 inches longer as well. We threw out the old years ago.

Need to know where we should be cutting to so to speak....where do the ends need to be..

Thanks
ian.

Be careful trimming the carpets near the driver's pedals. You need to make sure that the carpet cannot hang up the pedals (Toyota sudden acceleration syndrome).

Also for making holes for the seat belts. Get an old or cheapo soldering iron with a tip you don't care for. Go from underneath and use the hot iron to melt holes through the carpet for the front seat mounting and all seat belt holes etc....

Clean or replace the tip on the soldering iron when done... It works better than trying to cut the holes with a utility knife.

Who did you but the "fitted carpets" from?

Kool tip...thanks !

I thought fitted meant "drop in place " :)

ian

No, "fitted" means "molded" to the basic shape of the floor pans, you have to do some "fine tuning".... :violent1:

But it's much better than trying to fit a flat, non-molded carpet... :banghead:

Oh yeah, my comment about trimming near the pedals also applies to both the gas and brake pedals. You don't need the carpet hanging up EITHER ONE.... You don't want the accelerator pedal to get hung up or the brake pedal to interfere with the carpet OR not let the brake pedal travel go to the floor without hanging up. Safety first!

Thank you. I will be careful about that.

Not to be critical but the only "molding" really is the hump and that isn't great either. They are darn close to flat. I had hoped just to drop them in :). No such luck...

pushed the car out into the sun this afternoon..there seems to be almost 14 inches of overlap between the two pieces,,,,,should I cut some of that out ?

Thanks
Ian.

This thread should help you with the carpet install...

Here's a pic of the jack install on a Demon. I would think your Duster would be the same.....

Hey 6pk,
I know that's the way they go, but I couldn't bring myself to do mine that way.
I always thought the spring should go here, so it holds the handle (tire iron) from moving around at the same time it holds the jack down. :)

TB, You're probably right, but I can't hear it rattling over the tunes that are normally playing while cruisin' :)
