First admission - I'm a newbie! I am rebuilding a 1968 318 from a Dart 270.
I have the motor torn down and it's in the machine shop. Needs to be bored .040 over. The intake is cracked so I am planning to replace with an Edlebrock perfomer/600 cfm combo. Other (hopefully) useful info - I have headers, plan on using stock converter, heads are stock - but new valves/springs, etc will go in, auto trans, power steering, manual brakes, 3.23 gears (I think) and stock tires.

I want to be able to use the car as a Sunday driver and want a nice lope/chop to the idle sound but I have no intention of racing or exceeding 5000 rpm.

The machine shop recommended this cam:
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=617&sb=2
252/252 duration and .425/.425 lift 110 separation

What do you guys think?
Also - feel free PLEASE to advise if you anything else wrong with my plan or have other things I should be considering.

THANKS!!

.........the 252 will not be choppy at all.........268 u will notice.........get higher compression pistons and get the block decked as close to zero as u can......kim.........
