Hey guys with new car i got (69 cuda) of course i really wanna build the motor :thumblef: its got a 318 but i'm trying to decide if i should build that motor or try and find a 360 i see its a common build and its not THAT expensive to get it running well. The car has the small bolt rear(7 1/4) so i'll have to swap that before anything major goes down. I have a 360 but its out of a van and probably pretty tired and ready for a rebuild. i'm really stuck on the whole cam info, i have really no idea what i'm doing when i decide what cam i want, i have a program called desktop dyno and ive been messing around on there picking random cams and some give me major tq and some hp some are later i relize that they all are designed for certain rpm ranges and such but i dont know what to look for or how to id them. id like to build the cuda so its has a nice rumble at idle and will spin those tires pretty easily, its an auto and i am debaiting if i should swap a 4 speed or not. it has the abody ex manifolds that tuck around the steering am i able to install headman headers with out a problem? also the car has some wiring problems that i need to fix before anything along with i need ot fix the fenders up to at least primer condition. and the wiring is all hacked up :cwm10: :sad2: i have no lights the front is tore apart i found all the body parts and such, o and i need a gas guage that works and ive read about it i ran out of gas to many times in the dart cause of no guage it sucks :cwm10: can u guys point me in the right direction, its alot of questions but i'm all ears

thanks man i'm glad you guys are all so helpfull when i got the car my dad and i noticed the stock temp and oil pressure was still hooked up and there was another oil pressure unit(plug)next to it so i take it, its been changed at one point.

May I suggest as the others and recommend getting the wiring figured out. It sounds like youve got a rats nest in your harnesses. One of the things I found very useful is to get the service manual for the vehicle. It will have the wiring diagrams and lots of other useful information on the car, stuff like interior and exterior body parts diagrams and tons of other info. you can try and patch the wiring with what youve got. Get the wiring figured out, the rest will take care of itself as things progress.

i kinda though of this when i got the car but now its confirmed all the fuses are missing(couldnt check first night to dark) tomorrow i'm gonna go pick up some fuses and see what works then...cant wait :thumblef:

Make sure you pickup the right amp fuzes. Maybe a few extra's as well :thumblef:

Hi, your car sounds like mine when I bought it in 1991. The wiring was a nightmare. Find a doner car and get the whole harness. And pull the whole harness out of yours.Find a doner that has not been hacked up(may be hard to find, but they are out there.) The one thing you dont want to risk is fire. As for the eng. My duster back in the day had a super cammado 360 crate engine that mopar performance had in the mid 90's. Its wasn't a dealer bought eng(crate) Me and my dad took the list of parts mopar used and ordered them from summit, had our own block bored and put it together. It was a strong running streetable combo. You could run low 13's and drive it on trips. I drove to the mopar nats and back (about 1000 miles) and ran fine.

ok i put the fuses in tonight after work and the tail lights, blinkers, and guage lights all work..made me very happy concidering the dart only had one light (worthless cause speedo broke) tomorrow i'm gonna swap the ecu box for another one this one is messed up and i believe that is why it killed when i was driving it and never started :thumblef: plus i was looking at the fenders, lots of custom metal needs to be made :silent: thats gonna be quite the project

Good luck with wiring can be a real PITA I have had problems with bulkheads connectors. looked fine with resistance check but had a voltage drop when currnet flows. LMK PM me if you need help.

today it was ok out and i checked under my dash. i looked at the main harness and saw that it looked like a wire was melted to other wires :silent: :cwm10: it really sucks i found out the aftermarket amps guage works, but the factory temp, amps, gas, oil pressure dont work, id like to get them all to work. first off i take it i'm going to have to 'delete' the bad wires (cut them out, replace) then where should i start to get my guages working mainly gas first off, check ground and such i think i know how to fix that, what about the others? thanks guys :drinkers: happy st pattys day(just got home 5am :thumblef: )haha
