Does anyone have a new Challanger and do you think its worth buying for $45K. I am not sure if I like them. I was going to buy a used Viper, then I thought to just get an SRT8 Challanger. Not to happy with them.

I agree. That's a ton of money for something you don't just love. Even if ya did love the new clally I don't see it being worth 45 k

You ask, then answer your own question.

Personally I love the new Challenger, the wife and I have checked them out sever times... If we get one it will be a white R/T we don't need and wouldn't use the extra power of the SRT/8.

When they get aftermarket wheels/tires/suspension...etc. They tend to look a lot less heavy and bulky. Tons of parts out for those already.....shaker hoods, body kits, performance doo-dads. I dig em...

Take the 45K, find and build an original 70-74 one the way you lwant it at least it will never lose it's value like most massed produced cars these days.

body $5,000
paint $10,000
interior $3,000
wheels $2,000
suspension $2,000
crate hemi $10,000
trans $2,000

and so on and so on.

I like ours, it's a big touring car not a high performance car. If you want something that handles really well and has great looks get the viper. If you want something that looks cool to the general population get the Challenger. It won't handle as well and isn't as fast but people really seam to like it.

personaly i am not a viper fan(except in the cockpit i mean come on lol) so i would get the challenger. it is very nice imo. but get what you like better. both will make ppl look and will be fast enough to get you in trouble and both can be very modded easy. i dont think anyone will call u stuipd or anything for getting a viper same for a challenger. drive both and see which you do like more or... buy a dart or another oldie and put the 5.7 or 6.1 hemi in it and spend around the same and i bet that would be the funnest:)

I will admit the challenger is a nice looking car but I do think it looks bulky and I would even take a magnum or a properly done charger over it If you like the viper get the viper or stick with a classic its a buyers market on used cars not so much on a new one especially challenger I see about 5 truckloads of them a day as I work somewhat near where they build them they are nice but not 45k nice.

Get a Viper (late 90's GTS is one of my dream cars). IMO a far more unique and "athletic" car than the Challenger and definitely more hard-core. Unless you get one of the awesome factory custom Challengers, but then you'll be in new Viper price territory anyway.

What's up with the new Challenger's side mirrors looking like Shrek ears from the front. They stick out really far for my taste!

Hey, Bruce, you could always take the money, buy a base model R/T with the 6-speed, then turn around and use the difference to buy Indy's 600 horse 426 stroker, add the aftermarket goodies on the suspension and let her fly. How ya, been?

the new challengers are nice but not 45K nice. i think someone could get a SRT-8 one from my local dealer for around 35K if they bartered enough. the challenger is nice and i would love one but im happy staying with my 06 charger RT which is the same car just different body

Man 45 k is cheap for what sort of car it is.

If they sold them here in aus for that much they sell
like hot cakes!

After a right hand drive conversion they sell for 130,000 us dollars!!!!!!!
An people pay it!

When The O8's Hit 30k On Ebag ,im Getting One.
At Least The Numbered Cars Will Hold There Value .

It may not be in the road performance league of a used Viper if you did it that way, but it would be in the horse range or over, depending on the year of the V10.
Jamison found some parts that I gave him while we were cleaning some stuff out of storage. Hopefully he can find a buyer, as the money's going to his Duster.

The new Challengers look different per color...... the orange.... I think makes the car look lumbersome..... black looks sexy.....blue looks refined..white I think is the best on them.... color really makes a big diff. Now working at a Dodge dealer I have had opportunity to drive them. The 5.7 with a standard trans is nothing but fun. Has that old skool feel yet ya can actualy steer the sucker. The 6.1 is just bad butt all the way around in one. IF you are slightly unsure if you like it.. drive it. It may change yout mind instantly.

As for the Viper....cool cars yes... a pain in the butt to drive. They are meant for one thing. High speed driving. There is no luxary at all in these cars and it doesnt matter what year. I have driven quite a few and ya... they are fast, but they also have crap loads of wheel hop and shimmy, they are damn near impossible to get in and out of and once your in there isnt much room to even fart. The stick cars suck at low speed. Every shift at lower " normal" speed is bumpy and bangs. Now if your driving like a bat out of hades... and slam the gears its a riot. The other thing that is a clue to me about Vipers is that there hasnt been one Technition that ever said... I want that car. Whats that tell ya ? Now.. these are opinions and facts based solely on my experiences...

The Challenger is comfy, fast, and fun. You want to scare yourself a bit get the SRT with the 6.1 and take the traction control off......you will pucker up on both ends.

for what its worth..... theres my .01 cent (cant afford the .02)

RPM

The SRT-8 Challenger will go 175mph. And stay glued to the road while doing it. (Don't ask how I know). Thats where the weight comes in to play. Whole lotta car for around 42K.

Ive got a 08 SRT8 Challenger had it for a year and only has 4300 miles on it, I love it, its fun to drive, its fast. Would I spend 45K on a old Challenger? and still get the same level of excitment when I am driving it, probally not. If you want the e-body look with the modren excitment of a SRT8 than the new Challenger is the way to go, if you want a 70's e-body and all the quarks of the old Mopars than the new one isnt going to be your cup of tea.

But I WANT them both! :burnout::burnout:

Does that make me greedy??
