Looks like there's gonna be a new CNC ported head out there,

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=505014

Hopefully the quality is there, and the price is right. These are import castings, which always makes me apprehensive. Hopefully Dr Js is a good shop, Ive never had first hand experience with their stuff. I know they make a lot of noise in the magazine world. These should be a heck of good piece for the street strip crowd. I'm thinking 500-550 HP 408 strokers as being easy as pie.

Makes sense they take the guide boss out of the equation, really hinders air.
They kick *** from .300 lift and up, the .100-.200 numbers are of well ported factory iron.
Hope they are competitively priced, though I doubt it.

Very interesting. I presume these could be used on a Magnum as well?

The SB chevy head they sell in bare form is $2000/pr.

The Biggest problem I have with all the Mopar Procomp heads is the lack of ANY helicoils. This is a big problem for me and for this reason I wont use them. If you think about it, aluminum threads are not that strong, and when your dealing with CNC ported heads, your going after some HP, right? Well that means BIG cams with high spring rates. You have a better than good chance of pulling the threads right out of the rocker shaft hold downs. Plus striped threads on the exhaust and intake. No thanks. Sometimes cheap is just cheap, and Procomp is cheap.

I hadn't seen a set at all, yet. But the set that you posted (ebay link), appear to have heli-coils in the intake and exhaust (can't really tell about the rockers). Do you think that the seller is putting the heli-coils in himself? Not trying to be argumentative at all, just kinda thinking out loud is all.

On that ebay site I noticed the valves have more "tulip" that the one they are comparing it with. Doesn't that kill flow and add weight to the valvetrain?

I'll pay a couple bucks more for the Eddys. I made the mistake of buying a garbage chinese cross winds airgap intake.

I was told they dont when I asked the guy selling them on ebay. Im not going to buy a set, but if someone wants to donate a set to me, Ill take a good look at them.

No helicoils in aluminum is just wrong. Maybe its just me wanting the best for my customers. I have seen a lot of rocker shafts bent all to hell from the bolts being ripped out of the aluminum threads.

Out of curiousity, what would you charge to install Helicoils in the appropriate places?

I'd like to see a set. It's reasonable money for the results if they are as advertised. I know the Pro Comp big blocks need some help OOTB to get working.
