Here is the new Drag car I purchased 2 weeks ago. Had it out last weekend ran a best of 6.73 in the 1/8th. It is a 74 Duster. 440, Ross Pistons 11.5 to 1 compression, 906 heads with 2.14 1.88 valves fully ported. Mopar 312/590 solid cam. 727 with 4000 Turbo Action converter, Turbo Action manual reverse valve body. 4.10 Gears with spool, and Moser axles. So Far Im happy with it. Ran pretty consistent. Tell me what you think.

I'm not a fan of the hood or grille, but looks like a nice car.
I'm always glad to see "late model" Mopars getting love, especially Dusters.

I don't like the hood or grille either. I have 73 grill im gonna put in it for now. When I buy a new hood ill put in a 70-72 grill at that time.

I like the 1973-74 grilles...Sounds like it'll be darn near perfect (to my tastes of course), Dusters look great in those shades of blue.
I'm also not a fan of the writing on the lower portion of the car, not trying to bash your new pride and joy in anyway, just stating to me it doesn't flow with how clean the remainder of the car appears.

Decals are gone. Pictures were taken right after I got home with it. That was the previous owners website decals. I did have to change the converter out. I didn't like the stall seemed to loose for the combo. Was fine in the 1/8th. But with the 4.10 gear in the 1/8th through the traps was turning 6400, due to converter slippage. Would never have made it through the 1/4 without spinning it over 7000. May slow it down a little in the 1/8th. Wont know till this weekend.

Cosmetics don't bother me that much on a car like that. They can be fiddled with in time....lol.

More important, you got a nice clean Drag car with a tried and true combo. Congrats!!! I think you did well.

And for those that don't realize it on the surface, That's a mid 10sec car in the 1/4. :thumleft:

Will find out this weekend what it will run in the 1/4. He had some time slips he showed me it ran a best of 10.54 in good air. He ran he converter that was in it, and told me it would bump the 7200 chip through the traps. That is why I changed the converter. I would rather run just a little slower and save the motor.

It may still mph? Time will tell. Just curious if you weighed it yet. With the fiberglass, some interior tin and the windows, I'm thinking 3,050? Just guessing for fun......

2550 without me in it so around 2750. Light car. All Lexan. Fiberglass bumpers, hood. Just 5 gallon cell.

Another Pic. WIll get some with the hood off, and inside.

I might have gone with a gear instead of a converter change......if it has an 8 3/4 anyway.
But I don't mind the grille and I really like the hood.
We all know what they say about opinions..........right.
9" slick ?
If it runs the same number time after time , then it is a real nice car.
If not , it's still a nice car.

Im just trying some easy changes. What gear would you have suggested. I was worried about going with a 3.91. I was told it would cause more converter slippage. I was also told to try a 4.56 it may help the slippage and run less rpm. It has a 10.50 slick on it.

hey great looking car.:tongue1::tongue1: that's what i want my 73 duster to look like. is this the one you are going to bring to mokan this weekend? what kind of rods does it have in it? also what did the converter stall at that came with the car? how tall is the hood scoop on the duster? might be interested if you sell it and its tall enough. got any engine pics? also can you post how much you had to give for it no big deal. I hope my 5200 stall converter makes it back in time for this weekend.I ran 10.49 at 125 in the 1/4 with a 9.5 4200/4400 converter, so it can be done. also can you post the rest of the info on the 1/8 mile pass? i mean like 1/8 mile mph ect. again great looking car wish i had one like it. thanks Bobby

I also have to add. When I had it out it ran back to back 6.763, 1.55 60', and 102.51 time slips. I thought they screwed up and handed me a copy of my last slip. Till I really looked at them close and seen my RT was different. SO it is a real consistent car.

What gear was you running with your combo? I gave 8000.00 for it, and it will be at MoKan this weekend if it doesn't rain.

damn my 73 dart weighs 3520 with me in it. so one or both of us have to go on a diet.lol wish we had time we could stick my 440 in it and go low tens or high nines.lol
well looks like i will have a lot of questions for you this weekend and check out your car if that's OK?

I'll say it's light, very cool. Not trying to be a pest....lol, but the rear wheel offset looks like it could have a "B"body housing in it? Is the tire diameter 28/29? What springs/traction devices, if any, does it have? I promise i'm not gonna suggest changes, just enjoy knowing what makes it tick. :D

my car has a set of 4.30 which i put in it because i blew up my 4.10 on the 5th pass last year. I think my car would be faster with another set of 4.10 in it.also what size slick are you running? i have M/T 275/60/15 E/T street drag raidels( spelling) that are 28 inches tall and 9 inches wide.

More than welcome to come check it out, and visit with me. It just has SS Springs with pinion snubber, nothing else. Just old Mopar technology.

unless two people built the same looking car. i thought i have seen that car before. i found it looking through some pics of the last time i raced at mokan when i had my 65 Plymouth. he has the blue duster and his father had a very fast cuda. i think these pics were taken about six years agao. pretty cool if its the same car. here is a pic of it. Bobby
