LUUUUUUVV me some red interior. The only thing more attractive is a white car with red interior....and the only thing more powerful than THAT is a white convertible with red interior.

WHAAAATTTT......??!!

.

good work. Did you have to use a heat gun for any wrinkles in the vinyl?
I didn’t, but weather is warm here, probably helps. There were some areas that I had to massage it and muscle in, but I think overall it’s a very high quality skins ( not that I installed any others ) one thing that was very helpful, was legendary install videos on utube. I watched them few times before starting the job

I am getting ready to do mine in my 70 Dart... I bought mine from legendary also. Its good stuff, they've been on top for a long time in the interior game.

Really curious to see how that painted steering wheel will hold up over time.

Yeah I know what ya mean, maybe put a wheel cover on it might help...on the other hand if the paint dried good and hard it may not be an issue. i wonder if you can powder coat plastic...?

One thing I did wrong is didn’t get enough hog rings. I asked sales guy what is average you need and ordered more, but should of double what he said

I put four coats or so, I understand that they were painted originally, probably better paint with lead and asbestos with uranium hardener and that’s why it lasted this long. I figured I’ll do that and see how long it will last. If it will last 2 years with 4 coats, I’ll do 12 coats next time for that 6 years

I seem to think you are correct in that they painted them originally. I recall the older cars would have a black/gray color around the finger bumps on the steering wheel when they aged a bit.

That red on white looks amazing. You did a great job with those seats. I still say the hardest physical thing to do on my entire project was stretch that rear seat cover over the bench frame.

Did you order the covers direct from Legendary? My dad and I are working on a 66 Valiant and we have had some difficulty finding red seat covers - it has front and rear bench. We are going to paint the car white once we are done.

It was directly from legendary, they had a Christmas sale and that’s why I bought it, but Covid shut them down ( they had 2 months before Covid hit, but didn’t do it) so instead of 4-6 weeks it took nearly 4 months to produce it. I was really not impressed with my salesman.
Actually rear seats were way easier than front for me, I think it’s easier to pull/stretch big sheet that small one. Material stretches only so far. If it gives let’s say 1/4” per foot, you can pull 1” in 4 feet and only 1/8” in 6”. Also, easier to hold on and manhandle. But honestly, it was physically one of the hardest things, I was soaking sweat..
