Hi everyone,

I have always been interested in vehicles from the 70's and 60's era. I owned a 79 El Camino that my Dad and I restored when I was 15, but I sold it shortly before I got married several years ago. I have always wanted a Dodge Dart Swinger and after searching for a little over a year, I finally found the one that I wanted.

It is a 1973 with a 318 4bbl Edelbrock. It is 75% restored and the motor was rebuilt 10k miles ago. It runs smoothly and I am ecstatic to be driving her. I have a few small rust spots to take care of and some cosmetic issues, but mechanically she is sound.

My first question of the board is with my GM the Chilton Manual saved my tail on more than one occasion. I am not naturally mechanically inclined, I have to work at it much like someone who can't spell worth a damn. Anyway, Chilton does not make a repair manual for Dart Swingers with a V8. I am told that it only has a repair manual for the Slant 6's. I called the local dealer in town and they said they can't even order one that far back. Does anyone here use the Haynes Repair (seems this has replaced Chilton - but does not seem near as detailed)? Does anyone know where I can find an original factory repair manual or any other ideas for a good resource?

Looking forward to learning a lot on this site and I'll get pics of my Mopar up as soon as I can.

Thanks,

73AZSwinger (Jason)

welcome aboard, you'll find that this is a very informative site with great people here.
i gave up on chiltons and swear by haynes, not sure about not being detailed bec that was my problem with chiltons. anything you cant find detailed in haynes manual can surely be answered by the knowledgeable people on this website.
you might be able to find one on ebay or amazon.

Welcome, like pauly said there are very freindly and knowlegable people here.I Bought a service manual for my 67 dart from Year One little pricey but very detailed.

Welcome aboard, you will find alot of informtion on this site.

You are lucky that you can't find those POS.
Try ebay, I found factory manuals on there before.

Welcome to FABO! You'll like it here.
Suggest you look for a couple of things on eBay:
* Motor's Manual that covers the year of your car. I always liked the Motor's Manuals better than either Chilton or Haynes.
* Factory Service Manual on disc. I have the '69 Service Manual on disc - dont' know if they have the '73 model year on disc.
