NHL 2024-25

The Jets finally lost a road game last night, Lightning beat them 4-1. I wasn't able to watch the game, but did catch the recap this morning. Backup goalie played pretty well, he was 3-0 going into the game, but Tampa did a good job of keeping the quality scoring chances down, and Vasilevsky was solid.
Panthers up next!

The Oilers have clawed themselves back into 4th in the Pacific although Vancouver has a few more games in hand. I wouldn't say they are firing on all cylinders though. Goaltending/defense is sketchy at times and they get a lot of shots but not so many goals. Special teams aren't doing well but it could be worse. They obviously have the potential to turn much of it around. The Connor and Leon show is great but some of the other guys seem to have cement hands.

Leafs win another one coming back from behind against McJesus and winning in OT.
Nurse got his bell rung good by Reaves, hope he's OK.
Oh Bruins lose in OT against Phil McKraken. All is right in the hockey world
Oilers playoff run last year was not due to their goaltending. That was something they should've addressed in the off-season. Again. JMO

Agreed, the Oilers biggest weakness is in the net.

Jets lost 5-0 to the Panthers tonight, rematch in Winnipeg Tuesday. Couple of really fluky goals Hellebuyck had no chance on, Bobrovsky was on top of his game.

The Oilers are hard to watch some days. They didn't capitalize on a 5 minute PP when Nurse got rocked by Reaves and then blew a 2-1 lead with a few minutes to go. Bad defensive plays and so so goaltending were to blame. They were out goaltended once again. Its a common theme. Also, they can't score and are way down the list on goals per game. Its a bad combo.

They showed PP & PK stats comparing last yr to this yr and they are polar opposites.
It's a shame for Mcjesus and Draisaitl, i like them both altho Leon can be a pouty ***** at times. They have had mediocre goaltending for all of Connors times there. But that isn't news to any hockey fan.

Yeah, you can't win if you don't score.
Not sure what cap space the Oilers had/have but there were quite a few top ranked goalies available in the off-season (Markstrom, Ulmark, Stollarz) and probably a few more I'm forgetting. That's all on mgmt. All they have needed the past 5-6 years has been a goalie. They have/had 3 ex Leafs. I've never seen that before, Skinner, Campbell and Pickard. Campbell had "flashes" with the Leafs but for Oilers to give him that $$ was insane.
Not ragging on them, just what I see.
Leafs goaltending and defense has been very similar. I think they nailed it this year tho (so far)
The Oilers really seem lost. Out goaltended again but who cares when you get shutout.

A top tier netminder and an improved defence would make them a really scary team.

He got greedy once Ulmark left and basically held them for ransom. Stark contrast from when Bruins went around the dressing room a few years back and several players took a pay "cut" to keep the same roster.
Man,the Bruins SUCK Swayman can't stop **** since getting the BIG money  :mad::mad:
