I'm deleting the factory A/C in my car (REAL Hot Rods have no A/C. You just sweat....) and I need to know the interchange on A body heater boxes. I got one with my car 8 yrs. ago and just today I was able to hold it against the firewall to see what holes need to be filled it. It don't fit.... I now need a non-A/C heater box. The extra one I have has a rod with a hooked end to support it inside the r/s fresh air door. The one that came out of my car didn't have one. Plus the blower motor is MUCH smaller and doesn't fit my car. I didn't have my camera with me today so I'll post pics tomorrow.

Any input? :help:

My 73 came with AC (first thing I ripped out!) and I picked up a nonAC heater that came with the chunk of the firewall that the blower motor sticks out of and the guy told me that I would have to cut out and weld in the firewall chunk in order for it to fit.
Your nonAC heater sounds just like the nonAC heater I just rebuilt and put in my girlfriends 72 scamp.

Oh no....this is what I was afraid of. Loks like me gonna "modify" my exsisting A/C box into a non A/C box and NOT weld the firewall.

Any other suggestions?

John,
SOMETIMES, you can find a non AC car in the Junk yard down the road from my house. About 2 months ago I ripped out the D/S air box out of a 70 or 71 Valiant. Just ask Kev, sometimes he's down here and see's what is here. I haven't talked to him in quite a while though.
I have a 73 Swinger I changed the firewall to non AC, all I have to do is cut in the holes for the heater core. I'll send ya a pic later today.

I thought of you as soon i seen what John posted about his car.
Did they bring anything new into the yard,i'm planning on coming up within the next few weeks.

John if your gonna go with a non-A/C heater box your gonna need the piece out of the firewall of a non A/C car.
Or maybe your body shop can make the piece to make the non A/C box work.

Nothing a little welding cant fix John. I got it in primer today. man it looks good.

Im not going to use it so if your not against cutting and welding your firewall I will try to dig up the firewall peice that I have and if you want it let me know. It was out of a mid 70's dart and if I can find it I will take a pic of it.

I've decided to modify the exsisting box since the rest of the damn car is Hot Rodded. Besides, in the future if these things become big-dollar collectibles the firewall isn't cut & welded.

Thanks for the offer of the firewall section Scamp !
