Not like I eat these things on a regular basis, but I remember my Dad used too.
But I guess due to inflation they now cram maybe 6 minnows in a can !

Love sardines, full of omega oil, good for the heart, i only get them from Walmart, they come in a round can with a clear plastic top that you can see through, try'um. there grrrrrr---ee---aa--tt !

Sardines...or better yet, herring in tomato sauce on white toast

Yum

Gotta be careful with what brand. They sell them at the dollar store but the brands the dollar store has often change. They all are marked as to what country the fish originated. I always leave the ones marked "product of china" The chinese ones are often like the ones in the OP.

King oscar is a better brand and the quality control is a lot better and they reaaly pack the fish in.

Bar harbor herring in cracked pepper is the best!! i eat it with corn tortilla chips ...yum

This guy does really good reviews of all brands of sardines and different fish.

Yall will get a kick out of this. When I was very young a grandpa was my father figure. I wanted to be just like him. I would even eat anything he ate. Some evenings the bedtime snack was sardines on saltines with a good dose of black pepper and a glass of buttermilk. I had wondered if he was only testing me.
So anyone here enjoy pork brains and eggs for breakfast also? Or salt mackerel and grits?

Here's the one's i'm talking about, they are Brisling, small sardines not the ones that look like some of the bream i am fortunate enough to catch.

Any chance he was an old Dutchman?

My Marine roommate used to eat those on crackers. Gawd, the smell! And he ate Liverwurst on crackers too. I tried the sardines one night when I was drunk, not as bad as they smell but not my cup of tea. I was more of a canned Lasagna guy! Best vending machine $1 spent at 10PM after about 6 beers.

Heck, you ain't ready for a balut then.and if ya don't eat one ya can't come in the Whirlybird Bar off magaaysay.PI. A helo hangout.I got my duck wings after about 3 pitchers of MOJO.
Despite being an object of culinary fascination around the world, balut -- a popular Filipino food -- is no beauty queen.

The 18-day-old fertilized duck egg has revolted even the most daring foodies with its carnal textures, earning it lofty rankings on many a "most disgusting/strange/terrifying food" list.
While food journalists commonly label balut as the Philippines' "much loved delicacy," in reality Filipinos are decidedly split over their nation's oft-sung snack.

i dont like pasta, no matter what shape it comes in

(ive thought of making lassanga with tortillias instead of pasta, but that would simply be a pan on enchiladas...and those i do enjoy)

what i DO like from chef boyardine, are the meatballs
the ones that come in the pasta

i even called em one day, asked if they couldnt roll me up a batch and sell me just the meat balls but that was a no-go

to bad, i could use a frozen or canned supply of meatballs to use in soups and such

You have an IKEA nearby? They sell a 2lb bag or so of small meatballs. Cheaper than a lb of ground beef!
@Avispa yeah, I got my Balut wings....Disgusting but the girls think it makes your dick hard...hardly! lived there 18 months....1 Balut, and that was 1 too many. Now the 'monkey on a stick' they sold at 0230 on the street BBQ's....a Peso (5 cents) a stick. Get 20 on your stagger back to the **** River bridge.

AHHHH the smell of almost home, **** River Bridge, I used to throw, and i mean throw my Centavos change at them on the way back, don't know why i did that, theory was that i had drank to much ( Ya Think !)

Can of smoked oysters on crackers with some hot sauce with mayo on his back!! YUM
I agree, sardines taste like 3 day baby dead fish.

Mexican Menudo, brains and eggs, yummy

I ain't ever been that hungry!! :realcrazy:
At least one person agrees with me. Sardines are down there with Crawdads (Crayfish). About 25 years ago, I was pretty much forced to try one. It was disgusting. I tried sardines once too. Never again on either.
