Ok, so I got a line on a 5.7 Hemi with the 6.1 intake and cam. It comes with everything on the front except the alternator and runs (I think). The guy is in Grand Rapids MI and wants 2200 for it. He's offered to sell it to me because he no longer wants something as mundane as a hemi in his 69 Dart. He wants an 8L V10 with 500 horses. He wants it gone by the time he gets back from Switzerland.

I also just heard from a guy at work that a shop he goes to has a T56 from an LT1 Camaro sitting in the shop because the guy who wanted it done didn't come in with the other half of the money. If he hasn't come in by Dec 31, the trans is up for sale. It's fully rebuilt and just needs fluid and a shifter and it's ready to go.

So, which should I get? I want the Hemi for the cuda because it would be the most awesome thing ever to have a Hemi Cuda but from 1966 instead, but I also think I could get the trans for a steal and I really want to put one in my next Caprice/Impala. Yeah, it's a chevy, but I love both of them equally. And that's the whole point of being a gear head, is making things you like better. I'm not trying to convince you that the caprice is better, I just want to know which would be the better buy in general. So not too much hate K? (340 plot. who then about 3 months later fixes some rust on his own Chevy and posted it on here :D just yanking your chain there bud )

Random: I love V bulletin style forums, they are so easy to figure out.

option 4:

buy the hemi for cheaper, take the savings and bank it for the new yea add some money with it, if the trans is cheap buy it

I say bont get nether and update the brakes man dont make me post a pic of my old 64 val when u have brake fade when u need them lol

get the hemi. if you miss it then the guy for the tranny comes in to pick it up before the 31st you will beat the crap outta yourself.....then so will a bunch of us...

Buy em both, use a QuickTime bellhousing to mate 'em. Oh yeah I bet the motor is from SwissWill who is a member here.

get the trans
put a MAGNUM 5.9 in the 66
WAY less headache, WAY less $$$$$$
and you cant drive it with the hood open so who cares what is under there as long as it runs the way you want it to

I say talk the guy way down on the T56, have em swap out the input shaft and stuff it in the Fish. If youve got the money to swing both the 5.7/t56 combo would be freakn sweet
