Hi all,

I think my car is missing an oil filter adapter of some sort. I have a '74 360 duster, and today I put a set of early 340 exhaust manifolds on it that I had lying around. One problem became immediately obvious: there was going to be no clearance to run a pipe down from the passenger manifold. So, I ran to napa and they came up with a filter that BARELY allowed the muffler shop doing the pipe to squeak a 2 1/4" pipe past the filter. This is a purely temporary situation-I won't be able to get the filter off without dropping the down pipe on that side, it's that close. I think there must be some sort of adapter to relocate the filter that I'm missing. Is this the 90* adapter I keep reading about?

If so, what's a good source to get one? Perhaps I should just put a remote filter setup on it and be done with it...

Yes, I'd check a swap meet or the parts for sale on this website or maybe moparts. Ebay is an option as well. Aluminum copies will be more $, there were lots of them standard on old darts, these will be cast iron. Either works fine, make sure you get the hollow bolt thats used to attach them.

I'd go with the remote filter. I don't have the 90 adapter on mine but I have headers. My major headache removing the filter the the trans dipstick tube. I remedied that with a Lokar flexible tube. Now it's almost a pleasure to change the filter. I almost went with the remote setup.

got mine from Mancini,
But WOW!!! they went up since then.
