OIL PAN SUMP PICK UP LOCATION QUESTION

Hi Folks

I would like to know how far from the pan that the pick up gets installed. I know that it is very near to the bottom of the pan, but I'd like a number. Oem pick up, and OEM pan on a 340 Demon.

OEM stuff. touches the pan. Imprint in the muck on stock application.

Correct. OEM states bottom of strainer must touch bottom of oil pan.

I put the pan on with out a gasket making sure the pick up barely touches it. Remove and install gasket and pan. Kim

I left mine hanging a bit "low" so when pan went on with gaskets, I had to "force/push" pan on. That gave my pickup that last little twist of tightening it needed.

Steve, that pickup isn’t supposed to be against the pan. Just the factory ones are. Kim

Theres a lip all around that's between the screen and the pan.

I seen that but it should be at least a 3/8s inch off of the bottom. That’s how they designed to work. Kim
