Im getting ready to put together my 440 for my 68 Barracuda but I still need an oil pan. I am using the stock front suspension setup and I have heard that the Pitman or the Idler arm will hit the pan if I use the wrong one. So What oil pan should I get for it, and I want the most ground clearance I can get because the roads where I live suck and my Truck has the scars on the front crossmember to prove it.. So what Pan should I get? Thanks for any help on the matter..

Not that I'm aware of. The problem is that the idler arm will hit the side of the pan on a hard right turn (or left I can't remember) and the dent in the pan is a relief for that.

Here`s a picture of a 187 pan ,you can see the relief in the pan to clear the idler arm/drag link. Some A-bodies with bb`s can use the 402 pan without any clearance issues but like Demonseed was saying the 187 and 699 are your best bets.

I think Kevin at Kevco pans can make one for you that is a 6 or 7 qt pan.

Would I be able to use the pitman and Idler arm from say a 68 dart.. I mean they are both "A" bodys or does the same thing happen with the pans on those..
