When I built my 340 I ditched the right angle adapter for the oil filter. I never did like those things, there in the way of the exhaust system. I just have the base plate with the filter screwed on.
I have the stock 340 exhaust and I have been using a Wix 51335 filter for clearance. I used VR-1 20w-50 in it and the oil pressure was 80 psi cold at idle and 65 psi hot at idle, that's with a stock pump. I'm going to switch with this oil change to the Valvoline 10w-30 Syn and keep the Wix filter.
I read the specs on the filter and it's rated to flow 7-9 gallons per minute. I was wondering what the flow rate is on the pump. Was the filter just going into bypass when it was cold before? Will it bypass at higher rpm's?
Thanks for any help, Bob
