Should you put anything on the threaded oil pump pickup when screwing it into the oil pump such as pipe dope?
Oil pump pickup any sealant?

Should you, I don't know....did I........yes I did. I have always used a little Teflon tape on that connection.

I've used rtv, skin on the last half of the thread so it doesnt get into the pump.
None works too, make it snug..then one more turn.

If it's as tight as it should be, nothing is needed.
But if you're one of those people who gets it set and it's not flat..so ya tap it back just a smidge.....you're going to find it swinging loose upon next tear down.

Yes, my Melling high volume pump came With the paper gasket to bolt down the pump.
