Alright,,,heres what I have,,,489 sure grip ,,cone style,,,tapered bearings. Terry and I looked it over good and the thrust block is missing (no wonder my axles wiggled around). I am really sure that my tapered bearings will be beat to hell and need to be replaced because of the lack of a thrust block (I think). So,,,if I go back with the tapered bearings I pretty sure I'll have to find a thrust block, buy all new bearings, seals and locks,,,or just buy greens,,,will I then need to buy a thrust block too? Does anone have a detailed diagram on how to install them? and finally were can I buy them In alberta on short notice,,,,,hows that for a question lol.

The thrust blocks are there only so axle end play can be adjusted.

If you use green bearings they are not needed. ;) ~Mike~

If there is no thrust block , easy to tell then you have 2 choices , find oner and install it , waste of time and money since cone type sure grips SUCK , OR get the green bearings that dr. diff sells .

There,s Bear,s performance in Windsor,or Performance Improvements. These are just a couple in Canada.Save on shipping twice from USA.Hope this helps!Any tranny shop should be able to get the green bearings?

I case you need it Jim here's the Dr. Diff website. http://www.doctordiff.com/

and I'm still trying to get a hold of Keith to find out where he got his Greens.

Terry

thx fer the responses,,,,terry I found a picture that definatly shows the thrust block is gone,,,,,,,,,,But I did find a set of green bearings at Mopac for 140 bux. Dont know if this is a good price or not but it was the only set I could find,,,thx again

Hey Jim looks like this is the kit for the green bearing with the snap ring, don't know how quick you can get it though. I've bought a few of these kits from a guy on ebay named Mopar Madness, with good luck, although this is not one of his kits.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Mopar-8-75-Green...14&_trkparms=72:1215|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

This uses the green bearing , ST-400 (Snap ring ). The outer race on the bearing has a groove and spiral lock arrangement that butts up against the outside edge of the brake backing plate and is also good for disc brakes if you ever convert.

hey keith,,,thx for the info,,,,the kit I got from mopac uses a rp 400 bearing and it looks to be pressed into the flange,,its a moroso kit,,,there does seem to be a flange on the bearing that stops it from coming through the plate,,,,any thoughts on this kit????

Yea, it'll work. That's the one I ran on my 383 scamp. but I bought it from Mopar perf.
The only thing is those won't work with wilwood disc setup.
Now to get those bearings pushed on!
