You need a better picture of the casting date.
If it is an early 340 block AND it was a 4 speed car, it may have a rare wilder cam than the 68 4 speed cam.

The last 6 is an 8. You can tell it's different from the first 6. It's just a little deformed is all.

If I get back to his house I will get a better picture of the casting date,He lives 11/2 hour away.
It's 68, the 2 digits you think are both sixes don't look alike. I've seen 67's posted on here.
Yeah. You ain't gonna see a 340 with a 66 cast date.
