This might be a dumb question, but that won't stop me from asking it! I have a '67 Barracuda, and the leafs on the back are totally shot. I'd really like a pair of XHD ones, since I like the "stinkbug stance" of the 70s! Aside from going out and buying new springs, has anyone here ever used a pair of springs from other applications?
For example, years ago a buddy of mine had a '68 Nova that he raced, and wanted higher stiff springs in the back (hey, it was the 70s) and instead of going with the big shackles like most other folks had back then, he put on a pair of junkyard springs from some kinda Jeep, if I remember correctly. Might've been a Scout, don't quite remember. Anyway, the length was pretty much right on, and they worked, pretty well, actually.
See where I'm going with this? I know I'll get a bunch of folks on here telling me just to buy the right springs, yeah yeah, I know, easy to say when I have the money. But, my junkyard-scrounging nature won't let me get off that easy. Besides, the local u-pull-it yard gets 15 bucks a pair. How could I say no?
So, anyone ever retrofit a pair of leafs on their A-body from a different vehicle that fit?

You can have a local spring shop re-arch yours.

Or add some extra leafs from another set of springs, but it will not handle correctly.

I put these on my car and it has the stink bug look that I am going to lower down. Shipping was not too bad on them.

My car has too much stink bug.

As for re-arching, I think it's out of the question, as one of the springs has a nasty crack right by the eye, and honestly, I don't trust the other one at that point.
As for the Mancini ones, yeah, I'd love to grab a pair, but that's WAY out of my budget.

There aren't too many, if any, other applications that use an assymetrical leaf like Chrysler did. I have built my own stacks by using sub-leaves from other vehicles and had good results, but you've got a bad main spring that needs replacing, too.

I have an unused set of 335 and 336. Built for 3000# auto trans, 125# spring rate, but shipping....

I mean, seems like you can use some of the main leafs and add in some stiffer leafs or some used arched leafs out of like a ford ranger, or another a-body.

I have some road race springs from firmfeel, and I am going to experiment with like an extra leaf to add a little arch.
