Im changing my 440 duster from a street/strip setup to street. I currently have 9.7 compression, .557 mopar cam, muscle motors 452 heads, M1 intake, TTI headers, 4;30 gears, 727 full manual vb. Im planning on going to schumacher headers for ease of maintenance and room. Probably a mild roller cam, dual plane intake and a gear change. Ive heard two local opinions that the schumachers will create an over heating issue on a 440. I dont take the opinions of these people very seriously but thought I would ask any way. I find it unusual that this would happen with a mild set up. Any opinions or experience with this? thanks

i cant see any probs and how could they make your engine overheat if that were true none of us would run headers but if your talking engine room heat a little wrap would work but i am no pro but run on common sense

I think they were referencing that the headers wouldnt handle the exhausst flow sufficiently and over heat the engine. Ive read that schumachers work ok for an 11 second car which coincidently is what my car runs now. Time slips are no longer an issue to me. I think I will be ok with them.

I have run them on 3 different cars up to 500 ci and never had a problem, coated and un-coated. One saw lots of street time (30,000 miles) with 2 cross country road trips and 11 second strip passes. Suggestion, only go with high quality in and out coatings.I cheapened up on one set and had to have it re-done.Learned my lesson.

If you have a poorly designed cooling system that allows under hood heat to circulate over/around the core support and back through the radiator, you could have problems.

The headers would make it worse, but the headers are not the "real" problem.

The only time I start getting to 200-210 degrees with the Schumacher headers is in stop and go traffic. Otherwise they work very nice.
