In the summer, I bought a set of used 15X7 Rallyes. I sanded them down and painted them. First I used Duplicolour Self-Etching primer. I put a few coats of that on and then I shot the wheels with Duplicolour High Performance Wheel silver paint. I also shot a few coats of that. Now my question is, should I be clearcoating the wheels or leave them? Did Chrysler originally clearcoat their Rallyes? I also painted my grandpa's hubcaps for his Stratus with the same paint and he drives his car daily and the paint seems to be holding up fine.

I would just leave them(no clear)I,ve done 2 sets, one with clear. The clear tends to fade a brownish color. The other set is fine without the clear. My 2 cents.

I painted some with duplicolor rattle cans and it held up really well without clearcoat.
