Hey guys Im working on a 66 Valiant pro street. The chrome on this car is a mess. Id love to have all the chrome parts painted a grayish color. Have any of you guys painted over chrome? Tell me what you did and what you used. Thanks !!!

i would get a bonding primer. you can get it at any sherwin willaims. whats nice about it is that theirs no sanding required before application, and you can brush and roll it or get a spry can.

My brother uses a clear adhesion promoter from House of Kolor, then sealer, then paint.

Cheaper route would be using an etch primer, sealer, then paint. Sand with 180 working up to 320 prior to spraying.

I've done this for restoring the black portions of anodized aluminum grilles. The self-etching primer is critical for durable results. Regular primer tends to flake off after a while. Still it's better than just sanding and spraying.
