Painting engine bay?

hey guys,
I"m curious if for the engine bay if i have to strip this down or can i sand it down a bit and make it smoth then spray it with expoxy paint the colour of the car?

Thoroughly degrease and scuff before painting. Remove all the accessories and wiring but I see no compelling reason to strip it.

there was never any wax or sealant in there so some coolant and oil has soaked into the paint. A chemical like Brakleen aresol will lift the oil without blistering the paint.

Scuff, degrease, prime and paint. If I can do it so can you.

take it all the way down so you can see what ya got

If you are not doing all out restore then I would just scuff and paint. If you are changing the color or have bare metal i would then prime then paint.
