I have located a 1970 Panther Pink Dart Swinger, 340, manual transmission that is in restorable condition. It currently has a 360 auto which is very sick. I want to buy the car, but it does not have a fender tag or a build sheet. The VIN tells me it was a 340 car, and the original floor hump tells me that it was a manual transmission. It also has the 8-3/4 suregrip. I am certain it was originally a FM3 car because of all the pink paint in the trunk, under the rear seat, on the floors, and under the hood. How can I document that the car was factory Panther Pink, and should I buy the car or pass because of the lack of documentation?

Look for a build sheet under the rear seat. If it is located it will tell you all the options and colors that your car should have. Aside from that I know of no other way to verify it to be a true FM3 car. As for passing on the car only you can make that call depeding on what the car needs and what you are capable of doing.
