Just wanted to see what others have done in regards to selling off original parts from your car.

Though I haven't gutted it, I basically stripped off all 'unnecessary' (to me) items for my street machine '71 Dart in an effort to save weight and remove clutter. I ditched the climate control, power brake booster, radio etc. I now have a bunch of old parts sitting on a shelf collecting dust that may never be used again.

Do I keep these parts 'for the future' or sell it off to someone that might want this stuff?

Thanks,

- Greg

Depends on your situation I dont have the room to keep stuff around long. If I can't sell or dont need it gets scrapped.

If you plan on bringing it back to stock you may want to keep some of those things. If it's to just be a dragster, sell em off, let someone else benefit from them!

Sell the stock to pay for the aftermarket, it's the circle of life.

LMAO, after 30 years in this hobby, I have gone in circles so many times, I am dizzy.

I always sell the stuff off, usually at a loss, to pay for the current project.

Just thinking about it recently, I bet I have owned 8 or 9 sets of the 68-70 340 HP exhaust manifolds, one set at a time. :-D

If your not ever going to use the stuff again may as well sell it off. Thats what I do. But on the other hand when I take or replace a part on my 340 Dart I save them parts in case I ever want to go back to stock.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm leaning towards selling this stuff, no need to keep what I won't use.

The only thing that has me a little wary is if I sell the car someday someone may not like my 'vision' but may see potential if the original parts are there.

Guess I probably shouldn't hem and haw about it though, the car is sitting in my garage in pieces. Probably best to use whatever money I can get to put back into it and get it rolling. I'm tired of tripping over this stuff anyway.

sell it, use the $$$ to pay for better goodies, my thinking is this,if the car/bike whatever the project is is anywhere near original, ie "lets keep the original parts to put back to original one day maybe..." id not change and keep original. if the parts you upgrade with supercede the original as old/worn/poo sell em/give em throw em! ive done so much i wouldnt have room for the old stuff! gave the 318 to a mate who helped me fit the 440 and kkep car there! good luck with it!

Tripping over stuff. Been there, let me think; in the late '80's, I gave away a 8 3/4 rear, with springs, 5 Holley carbs, factory 340 pistons and rods, kick down linkage, etc.
I could kick myself in the ***, daily. If you have room, keep it, might need it later. Otherwise, sell it on here, as it is not made anymore, and somebody is dying to find that part, in order to finish the car.
If it doesn't sell, trash it, It's all free to put it in here.

I would keep it till you get done just to make sure but if it it unneccesary dead weight sell it off
