I think this is going to be the way of the future. It is easy and parts are available to do anything you want. There is a thread here about the truck intake as being ugly, I also agree, but how 'bout a carbureted intake instead? It looks more period correct in these older cars. Also, I race this and fabbed up this support bar from side to side. When the car launches and the wheels come down a little hard this should help. Anything that stiffens these body's can only help. Anyway here is a picture of mine, and Please feel free to ask any questions I have the complete build documented on another site but I am afraid to post a link here unless I am told that is OK.

its ok with me! I'd love the info..
Really nice! I want to do this with mine but I can't afford it right now. Looks really nice!

nice looking,, i know of a guy that goes to carlisle,,has a buit 5.7 in his 68 barracuda,,looks a lot likes your motor,,coils hidden under the intake,,2x 4 carbs and sounds meannnn

i see no reason why you cant post the link with the info,,ide like it my self,,wana do a 5.7 in my street rod,,,lets see the rest of the car please,, nice job,,

Based on the reply from two other members. Here is a link to the build. This is from the day I brought it home as a slant 6 driver to what it is today. There is some good information in there. Some of it gets kind of long, so some pages you might want to scroll through and look at the pictures.

Anyway, if this is a problem please let me know. I just like to show how far this car has come and I am sort of proud 'cause I did it all at home in my own garage with some help from friends.

Thanks for posting your build thread. I'm currently working on putting a 5.7L into my 76 Duster.

im thinking on one in my 1940 dodge street rod,,thanks for posting your build

Car looks great. I've heard that if you use carbs they will stick up thru the hood. Have you seen any set-ups that can stay unted the stock hood?

These carbs stay under the hood. If I were to use a lower profile air cleaner I wouldn't have had to use the Hemi scoop. I just picked up some spacers that will raise the carbs just an inch to get the entire air cleaner into the fresh air. The intake could be milled a little to create more clearance. I am using Edelbrocks intake, there are others.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I like the look of the old chrome type used on the B-bodies as it looks good. It also will help give the effect I'm looking for as a "sleeper" that Daddy can have some fun with. LOL

For some reason the link does not work for me. Is the link broken or taken down?

Can you tell me what you did to the fenders to fit the 68 grill with 67 fenders or did you say you changed the fenders and I missed that somewhere?

Nothing. The grill bolted right in place. The headlight rings were a little different. I just had to drill a couple holes for the screws to line up. As I remember most of the screws around the light lined up, only a couple didn't. It was pretty much an easy swap.

i saw the dart today at etown, pretty sweet. sounds good too. i was there when the MCG guy wast talking to you and the other guy with the black hemi dart was there.

Thanks again for all the kind words. Robert from MCG was very nice. He asked if I would like to be in the Magazine. Of course I agreed! We went around to the other side of the pond to take some pic's. He told me it would be a couple months. I am very very excited!

My car in the best Mopar Magazine. Priceless!

Maby you will get lucky and get it in because I couldn't. Robert asked and took pictures of my car 12 years ago before I had the 5.7L in it. I was asked by Mopar Muscle a few months later at Carlisle to take pictures of my car and I was turned down because I let it slip that MCG already took pics of my car. It still has not been in the magazine. The biggest problem that I have with MCG is that when I called them 8 and 12 months later they insisted they would be printed in a few months and I would be contacted for the interview for the story. I'm still waiting. To this day I won't even accept free copies of their magazine. If MCG didn't want to print the pictures fine, but don't lie about it!!!! I hope you have a much better experience and if someone asks you again to take pics of your car for a magazine don't tell them that someone from a different magazine took pics already!!!!! On a different subject, I was talking to you at Carlisle last year, did you get a chance to spray that thing yet? Just curious to see how it went.

No, I'm waiting. I have had a couple shows I didn't want to miss and am afraid of breaking something. This weekend is Ocean city. Next week TRACK! Here comes the nines!
