I bought this pitman arm last year and went to install it today. I can get the nut flush with the shaft using an impact but that is it. It looks like it should go on further. Run it or scrap it? Its a Mevotech piece...supposedly the better one. Rockauto also lists Delphi and Dorman. Its a guessing game.

Tomorrow. It just shows the nut even with the shaft when torqued up. What else do you want to see?

So, the nut won't thread on by hand all the way to the splines? Either the threads on the nut or sector shaft are bad, maybe both at this point.

I could not tell if the washer was compressed.

How much room is between the box and the arm?

Any chance the arm is not on the splines correctly?

This is my stock manual box and arm

I can thread the nut to the splines with the arm off. Its just tight on the splines. I'm thinking the arm needs to go on another 1/4" at least

The washer is compressed. There is quite a bit of room between the box and the arm. I can get it started on the splines ok. I'll take it off tomorrow and see if I can clean up the splines a bit.

Or the wrong sized pitman arm. You need a small and have the larger one.
Sorry if this is not the case but hard to tell in the photo you have.

Her is another shot of manual box to arm separation

It starts so I think its right. The old one is long gone.

Master splines must line up with master splines on the arm.

You can't even start it if you don't line them up. I'll take it off and inspect everything a little closer tomorrow.

I've got a power box. I can still see splines above the arm so its needs to go on further
Is there more space than this

Keep in mind the shaft is tapered and the parts are new, might just be tight.

That looks pretty close to what I've got. You might have one more thread showing than I have.
