Made a new Mopar friend today with a 65 Dart. He has what he was told was a cop motor, casting # 4104230 with 587 heads on it. Are the heads correct? What pistons would be in it? Compression ratio? Want to get him signed up, clued in, and help him out. Any info is much appreciated, the history on his engine is fuzzy, and it runs good so he's not gonna tear it down to find out, but is naturally curious.

police 318's (E48/ELE?) had 360 heads and 4bbl intakes that added 35 HP. available in 1979 to 89 IIRC. Some 360 heads had 318 sized valves according to some head casting call outs.

Nuthin special, really.

I had an 1986 version. It had the bigger valve/port open chamber 360 heads and a 4 bbl. I put it in my pickup I had at the time and was not impressed. It ran a hell of a lot better after I put some closed chamber TBI heads on it... big difference.
