So the ol' girl just recently hit 100k miles, and I want to replace the plugs and wires when I adjust the valves. What do you guys recommend for a daily-driven, bone stock slant in the plug and wires department? Also what ignition coil? I'm still using a breaker point setup, if that helps. And, yes, I'm sticking with breaker points. ;)

I bought a UEI kit with wires, cap, and rotor for ~$18 on rockauto as I recall. Parts look OK but haven't run engine with them yet. Be careful about caps since some are ground off-center (post by SlantSixDan).

if they are ground off center ,it would tear up the rotor i bet.which ones were like that?

Standard CH410/CH410X Blue Streak Cap
Mo-3000 echlin rotor/ brass tipped rotor
Pertronix 45K coil

NGK ZFR5N Plugs PN#3459 (REMOVE THE WASHERS!!!)

also when you change the Valve Cover gasket, use a cork one. use some hi-tack and stick the gasket to the V/C. will last 5 or 6 times without leaking as long as you dont over tighten it

You would have to read the posts. They might also be in more detail at www.slantsix.org. I don't think one saw damage, but rather the engine misfired and it was very hard to track down. I think the problem is "proven", but some things get tagged as bad, when not a real problem or irrelevant.
