Played in the Sun Valley Pond Hockey tourney today and had a blast . Perfect weather 11 low and 37 high.
24 teams of 8 . No goalies just 4x6 boxes with 2 6" slots cut in it .
No lifting the puck. Skates and helmets the only required gear .
I dug out a couple old wooden Sherwoods with Coffey curves ... worked great !

Back in the 70's, we would be the only car on the road.
Times sure have changed. But still beautiful area.
 
We lost 2 and won 1. Our first Pond Tourney ...There is a different strategy to pond hockey and it took a while to figure it out .
 
That looks like alot of fun. If only I could skate. Lol we used to have an ice rink in Bristol every winter I've tried it and absolutely can not ice skate. Its odd because I used to be a decent roller blader when I was a teenager I guess roller Blading doesn't convert over to ice skating lol

It does to a point . Quick turns are much different .
 
I don't see any 50 gal drum warmers and the players appear to be over dressed.
 
That would have been a blast, I haven't had skates on in close to 20 years, probably 10 for roller blades. No wonder I'm fat! LOL
 
Nice ! What reservoir are you playing on ?
 
Who chases the pucks? How many were lost.......Hockey looks fun, cant skate well. If I don't fall down I've succeeded.

You keep your eye on where they entered the snowbank ..lol

We are having a tournement on Saturday. Maybe 30 skaters .. burgers , brats , beer ...

The strategy is very different playing no lift pond hockey. We played for hours and hours on weekends with games that never end and players rotate in and out as tired. How many times did you instinctively try and clear the puck up the boards? Hah? That’s a go fetch the puck moment! Muscle memory is a thing! Every time you do it you think arghh! On plus side your beer always stays cold and someone will always call for a beer break which is a legitimate call in pond hockey! Tape to tape for the win! Still the best sport on earth!
 
I drank a beer outside the lodge skiing once. It kept foaming up! It was about 20F so Im not sure why it wasnt freezing but that was a cold day for me. I love skiing, but its gotten too dang expensive for a family man. $130-150 per day!
