I would like to pick up a set of 302 heads for my 318 and do some porting and gasket match the intake up. I'm going to get a set of heads to practice first I just need to know if there's a kit for porting heads or what is needed any tips and input will be greatly appreciated

you'll need a 1/4 grinder, an inline speed adjuster, some carbide cutters short and long shank-tear drop , almond, barrel shaped work good.

some big, some small so that you are able to get in between the guide and bowl and not have the larger cutter bite in and bend the shank and wreck your head/hands/day.

fwiw those 302 and regular 675 318 heads flow the same stock and in ported form, the only diff is the closed chamber...which some might argue imped's flow

You will probably want to get some grinding stones on a 1/4" shank. But you will need an assortment of cartridge rolls in diffeernt shapes and grits. Summit sells there own brand for a fair price, and it comes with the 1/4" arbor for the cartridge rolls. As for the burrs, Ebay has some pretty good prices, on what you need. I like the 4" long shanked burrs, they are long enough to do most of the port and not too long to bend easy.

302's are a good head

Go with 1.88 and 1.60 valves a good valve job also. Open up the pushrod pinch as much as possible. I totally removed it but didnt really pick up much flow for the work done.

Knock the edge off the SSR and give it a smooth radius and that will pick up the higher lifts.

With just a bowl job, 1.84 intake valve and opening up the pinch mine went 217 cfm @ 440 lift without touching the ssr ending up at 132 cc intake runner volume

Currently they are 228 @ 500 and 140 cc runner with 1.88 valve.

Hysteric

Thanks everyone does anyone sell a whole kit of what's all needed or do we need to start doing that are self and create a fabo tool line lol

They also sell those carbide bits from summit, although more expensive.. they do work great

they sell small sanding roll kits at harbor freight as well that comes with the 1/4" shank.
They have this one

and a smaller kit as well.

I've been working a set of magnum heads lately. Air tools help tremendously, But I have been using a dremel with smaller stones and carbide bits to smooth small curved area's. It's not a fast process either.

Good luck.
