Okay some of you might recall that I posted some pics of the 318 back in my Dart project. However after finding out that we had a cracked head the motor was removed again. :( Well that was over a month ago. Not to mention 4 sets of heads later I am still no closer to having the motor back in the car. I have had 3 sets of 308 sent to the machine shop. ALL HEADS HAD CRACKS IN THEM :( :(

So I am now thinking rather to install Magnum heads, buying the correct valve train parts, buying another intake and the correct headers for Magnum head. Maybe ordering a pre-magnum 360 short block with 10:1, a set of Edelbrock heads, a decent cam, and an M1 intake. But my main question (other than hows the build sound), is will the A/C and all that go back on with the Edelbrock heads? Any other brackets tha bolt to the heads?? And will they all work with the Edelbrocks???

THANKS

Does anyone know if the A/C brackets will work with Edelbrock heads??

On the heads and A/C, yes, but the intake could be a problem depending on what intake. I do *think* the RPM can handle it. Do not quote this as fact. I said THINK
The Edel. heads are not exact. This could mean a little work with the brackets.
I run the Edel heads with just an ALT. and P/S. Thats all the car has.

The build sounds fine, just make sure you get the math right for the heads and gaskets, so the compression ends up around 10.5:1. The intake will be fine, and the Edelbrocks say they are "factory replacement design", but I've found that to be a loose description. Some brackets seeem to need tweeking, even with basic alternator and P/S. The cars I've worked with, had no A/C, and didnt need work, but I've heard others having issues.

Finally got a set of later model 318 heads that were not cracked. Hope to have the motor back together by the first of the year. Then the car will go back to the bodyshop for final paint!!!! Hopefully it will be done and on the road by March. That would give me the summer to enjoy it, AND plan my next project buildup. Either the above mentioned 360 build for my 70 Duster or a similar built 440!!

what brand of headers do you have & did the driver side hit the lower part of the cylinder head?

The Edel. heads were used on a 360 in a "E" body Cuda with Hooker super comp. headers, not the regular comp headers.
There was no fitment issue except with the scatter sheild by Lakewood and 1 of the pipes on the passenger side. The stock bell will work without issue.
