I was just thinkin bout the ecodiesel rams today and had a sudden brain fart... Think anyone will attempt to swap the 3.0 into a classic Mopar?? I think it'd be really sweet!! They only weigh 50# more than the 5.7 Hemi and get 27 highway mpg in the trucks (the founder of hypermiling actually got 36 out of one!!) they'd probably top 30 mpg in an A!! Or is this a sign that my brains are about fried......?

You are gonna hafta 'xplain' to me what this thing IS, before I can make fun of it , lol.............

Well if you can make all the computer stuff work without the parent vehicle then sure why the hell not.

The new 3.0 ecodiesel available in the new Ram 1500. They're just comin out, the local dealer just got one in today I think. They're estimated at 19/27 mpg and have a 9000# towing capacity.

I don't even own a diesel, but here:

If I had a RAM I'd stick with a Cummins, thank you very much

Has this thing been around long enough (anywhere) to develop a track record?

I'm old enough to remember "well" (meaning badly well) the GM 350 diesel debacle, so excuse me if I'm a little "timid."

On the positive side I discovered this which paints a little more glowing picture

So let's see if I can understand this?

This engine was devoloped partially by GM for / with VM Motori, which Fiat then bought "off of" GM. Now Fiat is selling it back to us Americans as a Dod........'er I mean Ram

I really don't see an advantage for the swap. Its mpg isn't so great you couldn't accomplish similiar results for less money & technology with a small v-8 or 225. Oh it may be fun for a "techie" to do the swap, but WHY? With the added weight, cost & complex technology, I just don't see it......
