Poulan lawn tractor

-
No idea. "The quagmire" of lawn tractors seems to be that it matters not what's painted on the side. Newer ones all seem to come from China, in the past there were "several" manufacturers that got re-branded by others, and nowadays, "big box" stores sell JD's that ain't really JDs

I'd say "call around town" and see if anyone knows anything about getting parts for 'em.

It's still a lawn and not a garden tractor and that generally means smaller, lighter chassis and drive train components and transaxle. (Garden tractors, in general, have auto style bolt on rear wheels)

That's a fairly old tractor, late 70's is my guess. If it runs and cuts offer him a few hundred. Oh and used only 12 times my foot lol.

I bought a MUCH newer one from a rent to own place a few years ago for $375.

It had lots of the same parts including the engine (17 HP pressurized Kohler) as my Craftsman (best one I've ever had). I got it for my mom, but it was too much for her to operate, so I ended up selling it for what I paid for it.
