I finally got the 67 Notch on the road with new tires, brakes, shocks ect. I notices a dead spot in the neutral steering position that allowed the car to wander a little bit. I tightend up the steering box adjustment jam nut & set screw which got rid of most of the problem but there is still a little bit of wander. Is there another hydraulic adjustment on the power steering to be had or is it a trip to the allignment shop. I am convinced it is in the steering and not allignment.

too me mopars always had a "dead" spot in there steering ...if its been awhile since you drove it and are used to something different it may just take awhile to get re adjusted

I had the same with my cars and now with my dually and i will rebuild the steering coupler.

put new pads and sring into it and check to see if coupler is wore.

they get water in there and the grease turns to rock and wearsthe pads.

had a old mopar mechinac tell me to do the rebuild and it took all the slop out of it.

don't ask me what they do all i know it worked and i have done it to all my cars when they become wandeerers.

You can still get the rebuild kit from your local dodge dealer------comes w/shoes, spring, and boot and the crimp piece that holds it together cost me about 10 bucks. did this about a month ago. thay even had it in stock.

Yep, what he said. I've seen many that looked like they were just flopping around in the coupler. I even had a couple just pull apart when I tried pulling the steering column out.

Well I read my service manual this weekend about the steering coupler and it does not refer to any way to rebuild it. I read all the section on the box, pump, and steering column and the coupler shows in the diagram but no referral to coupler repair. If I am understanding you correctly, I unbolt the column and drive the roll pin out of the box side of the coupler and lift the column, sliding the coupler loose from the box. Then remove the coupler from the column and rebuild it on the bench using stock parts from any dodge/plymouth dealer. Do I have the general Idea?
TIA, Rat
